Bring the heat on the pitch not
the kitchen!
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is wishing the
Wales Rugby Team all the best ahead of the 6 Nations, which is due to kick off
this weekend.
As thousands of rugby fans head out to watch the game in the
pub or from the comfort of their home, MAWWFRS is urging the public to avoid
cooking whilst under the influence of alcohol and to consider other options
such as getting a takeaway instead.
Fire fighters regularly attend serious house fires caused by
people who are cooking whilst under the influence of alcohol, sometimes
resulting in devastating, or even fatal consequences. In 2018 there were 254
accidental dwelling fires across Mid and West Wales which were caused by cooking.
Deputy Head of Community Safety for MAWWFRS, Steve Davies
advises
“Many people will be planning
to have a few drinks over the course of the 6 nations, but I would ask that
they think twice about cooking after they have taken a drink. Eating out or
getting a takeaway may be the best decision you make”
“Let the 2019 6 Nations be memorable
for all of the right reasons”
MAWWFRS
would also like to remind fans that the roads and public transport will be very
busy, both before and after matches in Cardiff, and to allow time for
congestion and delays
And
REMEMBER, whether you’re drowning
your sorrows or celebrating a win, NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE! If you are lucky
enough to have a designated driver, do not pressure them to take a drink of
alcohol. The best way to be sure you are not drink-driving is by not drinking
at all.
