On-call Firefighter

On-call Firefighters are an essential part of the emergency services network and come from all walks of life. They have often chosen a career outside of the fire service, but also wish to serve their community as a firefighter, ready to respond to emergencies, prevent fire and rescue incidents from happening and protect people and property across Mid and West Wales.

Availability

It is impossible to predict how often you would be called out, but the average is approximately two to three times a week for a couple of hours and you need to live within 10 minutes of an On-Call Station.

If you are not available to provide cover all the time, that is not a problem, you can be paid for being on call for only part of the day or week.

Every On-call Firefighter will receive a minimum of 28 days paid leave a year, rising to 35 days after five years of continuous service.
