Priority for 2014-2015
• Reduction in Chimney fires
Machynlleth fire station has experienced a significant increase (3–10) in Chimney fires during 2013. We will need to work with Housing associations, private landlords and professional Chimney sweeps to ensure that the maintenance of appliances, cleaning of flues etc. is carried out, following the manufacturers guidance or at least annually.
We will also deliver targeted Home Fire Safety Checks in high risk areas, offering home fire safety checks to neighbouring properties at every dwelling fire we attend. we will focus our energy on providing educational input at every opportunity. Additional home and chimney fire safety advice and guidance is available via www.mawwfire.gov.uk
