Llanfair Caereinion Fire Station
The community has a small population of 4606, is located in central Montgomeryshire and lies at the heart of an extensive agricultural community in the middle valley of the Afon Banwy.
Llanfair Town is a small market town that hosts one of the busiest coastal routes in Mid Wales, and as such is a gateway for people wishing to travel West during the summer. This transient population increases the road risk during holiday periods.
The area is made up of small residential areas and a few light industrial trading estates. Notable premises in the town are several public houses, a few shops and a primary and a secondary school.
Priority for 2014-2015
• Reduction in Chimney fires
Llanfair Caereinion fire station has experienced a 50% increase (7-14) in Chimney fires during 2013. We will need to work with Housing associations, private landlords and professional Chimney sweeps to publicise the recommended maintenance of appliances, cleaning of flues etc. is carried out, following the manufacturers guidance or at least annually.
We will also deliver targeted Home Fire Safety Checks in high risk areas, offering home fire safety checks to neighbouring properties at every dwelling fire we attend. We will focus our energy on providing educational input at every opportunity. Additional home and chimney fire safety advice and guidance is available via www.mawwfire.gov.uk
