Pembroke Dock Fire Station
Pembroke Dock Fire Station is a Flexible Crewing Station with Wholetime firefighters crewing one of the five different appliances in the station for 365 days of the year. On Call Firefighters provide an additional key resource for the community, they respond to the station when required and carry out the same duties as their Wholetime counterparts.
Pembroke Dock has a population 22,098 and is situated on the south shore of the Cleddau estuary near the old town of Pembroke. The station covers the south west of Pembrokeshire including Angle, Hundleton, Freshwater East & Lamphey. The energy industry forms the main risk in the area with a large oil refinery and new gas power station in the area.
Additionally, Firefighters at Pembroke Dock must have specialist knowledge to be able to manage the risks associated with the heavy shipping which utilizes the Milford Haven waterway. There is a ferry terminal carrying freight & passengers to Ireland with the associated traffic along the A477 increasing the road traffic collision risk. Other risks include the domestic and infrastructure risks inherent to a town of this size with the added constraint of a marine boundary on three sides.
