Fishguard Fire Station

Fishguard Fire Station is crewed by On Call Firefighters who respond to the station when required; Fishguard and Goodwick are twin towns located west of the Preseli hills & have a population of 10,657.

The area includes Letterston and Mathry to the south and Dinas and Newport to the north.
Fishguard is split into two parts, the upper main town with shops, pubs and cafes and Lower Town with its pretty cottages clustered around the old harbour where the River Gwaun reaches the sea.

Fishguard’s larger harbour with its two breakwaters has the Stena Line ferry crossing to Ireland, this being the principal sailing centre of the north Pembrokeshire coast.

The additional ferry traffic poses a risk along the A40 trunk road however there are also collisions on the A487 which runs through the town from St David’s to Cardigan. The Preseli Mountains have extensive areas of grassland and gorse which require close liaison with Commoners (with burning rights) when the burning season is in operation. Within the station ground many farms and remote properties present access issues which can affect response times for appliances.
