Llandovery Fire Station
Llandovery station’s community area has an approximate population of 6,000; much of this is made up of outlying rural areas including farms and villages including the communities of Llangadog, Llanwrda, Rhandirmwyn, Cilycwm and Crugybar. The fire station is crewed by 10 on call firefighters. Their rescue pump type fire appliance has the capability of dealing with all types of incidents.
The main risks for Llandovery and its surrounding communities are the busy main A40 trunk road linking West Wales with the Midlands. A mixture of Country & B roads, farming and associated agricultural industries and the river Towy can be susceptible to flooding on occasions
The crew at Llandovery Fire Station have been proactive over the last 12 months in reducing the risk for the local inhabitants and visitor’s .This has included conducting Home Fire Safety Checks where crews give out important advice and fit free smoke detectors if required to local households.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is currently recruiting firefighters in the Llandovery area, in particular those who are available from their workplace or home in day time hours.
