Carmarthen Fire Station
Carmarthen station’s community area has an approximate population of 30,000, much of the area is made up of outlying areas including farms, villages, communities such as Bronwydd,Capel Dewi, Meidrim, Cwmffrwd and Llanstephan.
The Station establishment has 14 Fulltime & 22 On Call firefighters. Between them they crew a rescue pump type fire appliance, a rural response pump, this appliance is specially designed for dealing with incidents in remote and rural locations with difficult access that may require a 4X4 capability. The station also crews an Incident Command Unit and have specialist Swift Water Rescue Technicians complete with their own rescue boat.
The main risks for Carmarthen and its surrounding communities are the busy main A40 and A48 trunk roads linking the UK to West Wales and Ireland, a mixture of Country & B roads, farming and associated agricultural industries, mainline railway junction, large industrial estates, and the river Towy is susceptible to flooding.
Station personnel have been proactive over the last 12 months in reducing the risk for the local inhabitants and visitors. This has varied from participating in Road Traffic Collision Reduction events on and off the station, local school visits, to conducting Home Fire Safety checks where crews give out important safety advice and free smoke detectors if required.
Carmarthen station also hosts a Community room that is available for eligible community groups to use; the room can hold up to 15 people and has disabled access and toilet facilities.
If you would like to book the room please contact Carmarthenshire Command reception on 0370 6060699.
