**During the current
COVID-19 pandemic, the Service’s resources might be diverted away from usual
compliance or information governance work. The Information Commissioner’s
Office have therefore recognised that it may take the Service longer to respond
to information requests. We apologise for any delays you may experience
when making information rights requests during this time.**
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides the public with a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by the Government and public authorities.
Any person who makes a request to a public authority for information must be informed whether the public authority holds that information and, subject to exemptions, supplied with that information.
If you wish to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI), you may do so, in writing only, to:

All requests will be acknowledged and a response will be sent within 20 working days. To ensure that requests are dealt with as efficiently as possible please ensure that requests:
- Are clear and understandable with sufficient detail to help locate the information required
- Include a name and contact details
- Identify if the information is required in a specific format (for example an excel spreadsheet)
There are circumstances whereby a charge may be made to cover administration costs and which are calculated by looking at any costs directly and reasonably incurred for locating and providing the information. In such circumstances a 'fees notice' is required to be paid within three months of a Freedom of Information request and information will not be supplied until the fee has been paid.
If the estimated cost of providing the information is above the appropriate limit set by the Government, then the Authority will not be under a duty to provide it and you will be informed if the limit would be exceeded.
